Previous owner has laid a trimmed piece of paper into the front of the book at the title page with a note from the author to someone - paper has the appearnace of having come from another book: 'For - / Containing reminiscences / upon art and other / matters, and also the / best wishes of / Booth Tarkington.' Rear hinge is cracked and the binding cracked between pages 22 and 23, but still straight and no signs of looseness. Previous owner's gift inscription on the free front endpapers. Light rubbing along the outside edges of the spine in a couple places. Top 1/3-1/2' of the upper front outside corer is missing - not sure what happened to it. Plenty of bumping at the head and tail of the spine and at the tips of the four outside corners, all with quite a bit of accompanying rubbing.
